Iran TV productions on air in Bangladesh

Bangladesh SATV has begun broadcasting Iranian series and movies.

The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting Corporation (IRIB) has signed a contract with Bangladeshi television channel SATV to broadcast 300 hours of the latter’s productions.

The contract includes both movies and series and the first show broadcast on the Bangladeshi channel is ‘Prophet Joseph’ which premiered on November 28. Directed by Farajollah Salahshour, ‘Prophet Joseph’ is one of Iran’s most popular television series in the Muslim world and stars Mostafa Zamani as Prophet Joseph.

Being Muslim countries, Iran and Bangladesh share many cultural similarities.

Persian literature has also left an enduring influence on the literature and culture of Bangladesh with the Bengali Language incorporating many Persian loan words.
